Kortes Dam

Kortes Dam is an electrical power generation facility operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and located in Black Canyon below Seminoe Dam and just above the headwaters of Pathfinder Reservoir. Completed in 1951 to provide peak power generation capacity, the reservoir only holds 4,700 acre feet of water but is capable of generating 160 million kilowatt hours per year. Just below Kortes, guaranteed in-stream flows insure a blue ribbon trout fishery. This stretch has come to be known as the “Miracle Mile.”
