Lake Ogallala

Lake Ogallala is created from released water behind Lake McConaughy and Kingsley Dam. During release, water sprays from the dam, creating a ‘rooster tail’ or an arc of water over the lake. The spraying of the water allows oxygen back into the stratified water. Since the water is pulled from the bottom of Lake McConaughy, it stays relatively cold attracting trout and eagles.
